Meet Kelly Todd (Choreographer)
If you won $96,000 from the lottery, what would you do with it?
Give it to The Chance! I need a new rehearsal space with mirrors!!!!
Who’s someone in your life that’s not blood-related, but who you would consider to be family?
I’m adopted on my Dad’s side so all of my loud, crazy, Italian relatives who I love so!
What was your neighborhood like when you were growing up? What’s that neighborhood like now?
I grew up in the Palisades which was a single family home, quiet suburb of LA and is now a super nice, mega million dollar homes town.
What’s your favorite photo from your childhood? What’s your family’s favorite photo?
My favorite photos are from Christmases with my grandma and aunt, who have passed away now. My family’s favorite photo of me is when I crawled into a big pot and got stuck and I’m screaming for help, but they took a picture first!
Tell me about someone in your life that made sacrifices for you to succeed.
My mom was a single working mom with two kids. She sacrificed everything for us.
What’s the biggest challenge for you in this production?
This is an extremely complicated show, deceptively so. It’s the hardest show I’ve ever done and I wasn’t expecting that to be the case. There are so many different tracks in each song, people coming and going constantly, it was a lot to keep track of.
What do you connect to in this story?
I connect to the urban family, the idea that we bring people into our lives who become our family, who we lean on and raise children alongside and become deeply rooted in the fabric of our stories.
